Packing
- Extra shoes -- Your feet will be so much happier when they are
dry (no wets shoes) and when they can have a break from the shoes from
yesterday. Rain is very common in Central Florida. If shoes
get wet, you need to let them dry out completely before using them
again. Have at least two pairs of shoes so one pair can be drying
while wearing the other pair.
- Extra socks -- This is another thing that can help keep your feet
happy. You might consider changing socks mid-day so your feet are
dry and comfortable.
- Sunscreen -- Do not forget to use sunscreen. A sunburned
person is a grumpy person.
- Ponchos -- It can rain frequently in Orlando. It will save
a lot of time and money if you carry a cheap poncho with you.
They don't take up much space and you will be able to continue from
ride to ride. Keep in mind, rain in Orlando often is a short
15-30 minute downpour then it is done for the day. Ask a cast
member how long they expect the rain to last. They usually know
ahead of time because Disney watches the skys very carefully.
- Duct tape -- A great remedy for blisters on your feet is to cover
the area with a patch of duct tape. This works especially well if
you catch it before the hot spot blisters. Moleskin works great
too but everyone has duct tape on hand.
- Snack-sized Ziploc bags -- With the rain and humidity, you will
want to protect your park tickets and other valuables from the
moisture. Put your park tickets in a snack-sized Ziploc and you
will not have to worry about it.
Flying
- Visit Seatguru for
information on your flight. Seatguru shows you the layout of the
plane and which seats are better than others. It is a great
resource.
Car Rental
- Car rentals are available on Disney World Property at the Dolphin
Hotel as well as at the Car Care Center (on your way into Magic
Kingdom). If you choose to stay in a Disney World hotel, you can
get free bus service to and from the airport using Magical
Express. Then, rent a car only for the days you are leaving the
site for other activities.
Magical Express
- Magical Express is a FREE service from Disney. If you are
staying in a Disney World hotel, you have the option to use Magical
Express.
- Magical Express allows you to check your bags in at your home
airport. Disney picks up you and your bags at the Orlando airport
and takes you directly to your hotel. They will also deliver your
bags directly to your room. No Charge! What a deal!!!
- When you are leaving to go home, you can check your bags in at
the hotel and take a Magical Express bus back to the Orlando airport.
- Obviously there is more to it than that. Certain airlines
participate and other do not. But it is FREE!
- We highly recommend Magical Express.
Daily Schedule
- You can run yourself into the ground while visiting Disney
World. This is especially true for children. You need to
pace yourself while you are there.
- Try to arrive at the parks in the morning when they are opening.
- Plan on taking a break in the afternoon. If you are staying
on property, it is more convenient to return to your air conditioned
hotel room and take a nap and/or eat lunch.
- Return to the parks in the evening when the crowds are getting
lighter and the day is getting cooler.
- Try to get to bed at a reasonable time so you can get a good
start the next morning.
